Books that tell a story

What happens when you are delirious from sleep deprivation, spend five hours dissecting the fall of the Byzantine Empire then try and think of an easy blog post? You think: why don't I take a picture of some of the books in my to be read pile. But what happens is, you end up making a short story based only on book titles.  At least, that's what happened to me. (Also, do not try to stack 24 books on top of each other. It's a bad idea)

Vixen, The Child Thief, cast a Shadowspell on the univited while her partner The Necromancer (the one on The Demon King's Hate List) applied The Grimm Legacy to the Guardians of the gate just because Thirteen Days To Midnight, Mr. Monster had said "I Am Not A Serial Killer." The Exiled Queen, living in Dust City, heard Newes From The Dead about Red Riding Hood. Red riding hood encouraged The Alchemyst, The Magician and The Pathfinder to use Hex Hall to find the Prophecy Of The Sisters in order to stop the Bloodthirsty Revolution started by the monsters of The Reformed Vampire Support Group.

How do you relax after a long day? Do you frequently start a simple task and then turn it into something complicated....by accident?

Also, I'd like to thank Christina Lee for doing a post several months ago where she turned her book titles into a poem. It was the inspiration for this one!

I tend do this as well when I'm bored, and it always puts a smile on my face. Good to know I'm not alone!

  6. This is great! I'm definitely not that creative when I relax--I tend to just watch TV or read. I'll have to try this!

  8. You're too cute, Melissa. Poor dear, you really DO need sleep. ;o)

A lot of times I'm like a toddler. The more tired I am the more determined I get to try to fight it. So I end up staring at something like Twitter for an hour or so, until my eyes refuse to let me stay up any more.

  9. You should visit my most recent blog post. That started out as a simple thank you and modest contest...then ballooned into a monster of an idea. I hear ya!! :)

  10. In my attempt to finish something before I relax, it ends up as one big problem that blows up in my face. So everything else goes down the drain. :3 At least your complicated simple was fun. *pouts* ;D

  11. Haha great story! I so want to make one of my own now ...

  12. This is SO clever!

I sure do make things unintentionally complicated! Such as a few days ago. When I finished all I had to do, and I cut up some veggies to bake. Quick and easy diner solution, while I played scrabble with a friend. Nope! I forgot about them, and burnt them to a crisp, and started all over again :o(

  13. This is great. Sometimes I stare at my book shelf and do sort of the same thing, making sentences out of the titles. I thought I was the only one who did that!

  18. You story was awesome! And how do you have TBR pile that large? I'm so hungry for a good book right now. I'd probably have tackled that TBR and be reading 2 or 3 books simultaneously right now!

  19. Ha ha ha!! I friggin LOVE it! So clever. And creative. Nice work!

  20. Nice TBR pile there... I vote you read Hex Hall next!

Although the Dan Wells books are amazing. I have the UK versions of all three books, which came out earlier... so you should also move those to the top also.

  21. This was totally awesome!!! And that picture? LOVE !!!

Yeah, 24 books in a stack. Not a good idea. But I've done it. The consequences were dire.

  22. Ooh, I love those. Colene and I did one a month or two ago. It might be time to do another. ALthough I haven't really tackled that stack of books lol.

  23. I thought I was one of the only people who did this, lol. I usually use song titles from a band or cards from card games. :)

    Great post.

  25. That was awesome and funny. I haven't read any of those books except I Am Not A Serial Killer- but that's not in the pile- is it? Need to read Mr. Monster, but I'm a little bit afraid to. The only other one I want to read is Hex Hall. Oh wait - took another look - I read The Hate List and I liked it.
Actually I might want to read Pathfinder too.

  27. Your brain works much better than mine after a long day! Wow! That's pretty amazing, kudos to you!

Me? I put on my 'phones (buds hurt my ears), and listen to some tunes and zone out. Like, noodle-fied zoned out.

I wonder what story my titles would tell? Hey, you've created an idea for a fest!

  28. Oooh, you make me feel happy that someone else's TBR pile is as big as mine! LOL
I eat chocolate to relax. :-)
