If I could turn back time

Here I am, almost a month into this school semester and I'm already drowning, sinking underneath the weight of my homework.

Here I am, desperately wanting to start edits on Book 1.

Here I am, needing to get Book 2 out of my head and into the real world.

Here I am, wishing I could hang out with my friends and not feel like I'm wasting time I don't have.

Here I am, sitting on my bed, staring at the clothes strewn across my room (that need to be washed) and the floor (that needs to be vacuumed).

Here I am, holding my official Time Turner prop that my mom bought for me one Christmas...........

And all I can do, is wish that it was real.

What are you wishing you had time for?

  1. Cleaning, writing, editing, submitting, reading, crocheting, sleeping... Everything demands a little time and so nothing is getting done one hundred percent of the way.

  2. Oh, I'm in the same boat. Except instead of school, it's my house and kid. Now on top of that we have a new crit group! I really wish we all had some time turners to help us out!!

  3. Oh, yeah. I wish it were real too.

  4. Oh wow, a Time Turner would be just the perfect thing right now! I hate days where I wake up knowing I won't get everything done--it's so discouraging!

  5. I'd have to ditto your list pretty much. If that Time Prop thing turns out to work, lemme know!

  6. Take a deep breath, Melissa. The moment we feel overwhelmed is when nothing gets done. Tackle one thing at a time, and before you know it, you're finished.

A time tuner would be great, but remember how poor Hermione felt after using it for the year.

PLUS ... you can't be seen...

  7. I'd like writing to be my only job so I had more time to attend to the things I neglect.

  8. Yep, a time-turner sure would come in handy right about now. Good luck with everything!

  9. That would be awesome to have. I'd probably Groundhog Day everyday to make them perfect. :)

  10. Oh oh oh, I want that Time Turner! You have the coolest stuff Melissa! I want more time for everything - for exercise, for reading, for learning a new language, for edits!

  11. You have a time turner??? I am so jealous. ;)

I wish I had more time to blog... lately I can't seem to fit it in as much between work, family, and revisions. :(

  12. I'd like more time for writing.
More time for guitar playing and sleeping as well!

  13. I could definitely use one of those time-turners too! Too bad they all got smashed after the shenanigans at the Ministry... :)

Sending your positive energy and warm thoughts!

  14. All of the above... at least I'm not alone.

    thx for the post.

  15. Sympathizing with you as you face down all that's in front of you! I'm reminded of Anne Lamott's explanation for the title of her book on writing, Bird by Bird. Her little brother was overwhelmed at a school report on birds he had to do. Their father advised him, bird by bird, just write it bird by bird. Same with books, and life in general--one little step at a time and you'll get it all done :-) Good luck!

  16. I need a Time Turner too! (Yours is very pretty!) I need more time for everything so that I can get more sleep!

  17. Me too. and for the same reason, dang this college homework.

  18. Wait, did you steal this post from my brain? I'm sure that this is EXACTLY what I'm going thru at the moment. I feel your pain!

  19. I'll take a longer day. I'd really like to quit the day job and write full time.

  20. firstly, that time turner is AWESOME!! SO pretty!!!

And yes. All of that is just yes...Sorry you're drowning in school!

My advice? Hire a maid, stop sleeping, and ignore your friends. You can get new ones when you have free time. And are famous. You'll get LOTS of new friend when you're famous ;)

  21. Oh my gosh, I know what you mean. Except instead of doing the homework, I'm the one grading it. Who assigns this stuff?

I want more time to do everything- read, write, play with my daughter, take pictures, go for walks. There's just not enough hours in the day!

Oh yeah. And I'd like more sleep too.

  22. I'm jealous you even have a time-turner in your hand!!! You're much closer to it being real than I am!!!

That being said I wish I had more time to spend with my hubby, more time to comment, more time to edit, and over all just more free time, hehe... is that too much to ask for?!

  23. How pretty is that? I hear you, girl! More time to write, please!

  24. Man, I would love a real time turner!

And at the moment, a phone call would be nice. . . One teeny, tiny phone cale. ;)

  25. Oh mans, do I wish I had a Time Turner...that worked. Heck, I'd even settle for your fabulous Time Turner that doesn't work. (love it!)

Yeah, I'm surviving on 3-4 hours sleep/night and still not getting everything done. Yesterday I promised myself I'd relax on the couch and zone out to some DVDs...but the guilt and need to get stuff done got to me, so I didn't.

Just do the best you can. *hugs*

  26. In the choice between money, fame, power, etc., I've always chosen time. I want time for all my adventures, and I wish I had more and more of it. And I'm planning to live to be 113, because I just don't think I'll get everything done any sooner. :)

So, don't feel alone and just take one thing at a time.

  27. I'd be so happy to have one of those! But I suspect a side effect is that it gives you massive wrinkles.

Time management is so hard! I guess you have to prioritize and give every thing its own time in your work week. And when you're playing, don't forget to play! Enjoy! Live in that moment, if you can, especially with friends.

  28. Man, I would LOVE a time-turner! What I REALLY want though, is a Sugar Daddy so i can give up the day job... I think I could manage my time if I didn't have that.

  29. I'm wishing I could come up with a captivating ending to this chapter I'm working on! And, I wish that Time Turner thing was real too!

  30. Love the time turner!! I wish I had more time for napping. :-)

  31. What a fabulous question! I wish:

    - That there were more hours in the day to spend with my daughter.

    - That I could edit book one without being too attached to what it is already.

    - A maid!!! What I wouldn't give to have someone clean up after my family!

  32. I'm sorry you can't to get to all these things. That's been my problem lately too. I've been complaining about it on my blog for the past few months.

When the Harry Potter exhibit was in town I eyed the time turner. But since it wasn't a real one, I passed.

    Hope things get easier soon.

  33. I wish I could finish edits on Book One, ideally somewhere on a tropical island...

Totally hear you Melissa, I'm seeing the same view from where I am right now.

  34. Umm, much the same stuff - cleaning, getting the homeschool work done, planning my classes out in detail, and writing, writing, writing and revising, revising, revising. Plus . . . well, there's always more.

  35. For one thing, that trinket is beautiful. I want to know what a "time turner" is!

What am I wishing for? This isn't interesting, but I'm wishing my hubby's work would not be so stressful so he can relax and not be in a constant state of near-heart-attack-ness. I miss my happy, relaxed honey.

  36. I can't tell you how many times I wishes I had a time turner.

I'm right where you are... finishing up first book, but wanting to start on a new book before I forget all the details.

I wish I had more time for my family mostly, because they do get pretty short-changed in this whole deal sometimes.

  37. Ayee.. I hear you! I'm so sorry that things are so difficult right now, and you don't have the time to do the things you want/need to do :(

Don't worry.. I'm sure they will get better though, they always do - just stay positive.

I'm in the same position with wanting to start edits (I was supposed to start this weekend), and needing to get book 2 down... but like you with school, work is driving me insane!

Mr friends are starting to think I'm avoiding them! Not good.

    We'll get there :)
